This issue contains five well researched articles.

Miss Nora K. Firby, commenced her post-graduate studies after retirement from the University of Manchester in 1978. She completed her M.Phil. dissertation on “European Travellers and their Perceptions of Zoroastrians in the 17th and 18th centuries. We are privileged to publish in this issue Miss Firby’s essay, Alexander Walker and John Wilson. The essay examines the extent to which Alexamder Walker influenced John Wilson’s attitude towards the Parsis.

Ms. Louiza Rodrigues registered for her Ph.D. in 2007, her dissertation being on Forest Conservancy in Western India in the 19th Century. A Lecturer in the senior section of the Ramnaraian Ruia College, Bombay, she is also Chairperson of the History Association, “Rajatarangini. Ms. Rodriques excellent article in this issue discusses the contribultion of the Parsi elite to the politics of Western India in the mid-19th century.

After completing his post graduate education in Iran, Mr. Kianoosh Rezania registered for his Ph.D. in Anciant Iranian Studies at the Georg August University,Gottingen. He is a member of the research training group Gotterbilder-Gottesbilder-Weltbilder: Polytheismus und Monotheismus in der Welt der Antike in Gottenberg, Germany. Mr. Rezania’s erudite article in this issue examines the evidence from the Avesta and Pahelvi texts cocerning the two different concepts of time that exist in Zoroastrianism.

Dr. Michiel de Vaan is Associate Professor at the Centre for Comparative Indo-European Linguistics, Leiden University. He has published several articles on the Avestan. Dr. de Vaan’s thoughtful article on Yasna 19.8 helps to create a better understanding of the theological context of this Yasna.

Dr. Alberto Cantera is Assistant Professor in t he Department of Classical Philology and Indo-European Studies at the Universiy of Salamanca, Spain. His main fields of research are philology, linguistics and Pre-Islamic religion and Culture in Iran. He has published several articles on these subjects. He is also a Director of the Project Avesta Digital Archive (ADA). Mr. Miguel Angel Andres-Toledo is an Assistant at the University of Salamanca and works with Dr. Cantera on the ADA Project. Their timely article studies the consequences of Jamasp Irani’s visit from Kerman to Surat around 1720.
