About the Book
This painstakingly researched book written by Dr Farokh Erach Udwadia titled “Rivalry Between the Parthian and Sasanian Persian Empires and Rome: The Rise and Fall of the Sasanian Empire deals with the last two great Persian Dynasties, the Parthian and Sasanian Empire”, which rose to power between 3rd BC and 7th CE. It describes the rivalry between the Persian Empire and the Roman Empire which had by then become the immediate neighbour of the Persians. These two superpowers of antiquity were on a par with each other, not only in military prowess but in all other aspects. The beautiful accompanying illustrations testify to the greatness of the Sasanian Empire, its great kings and the splendour of the royal court. At one stage the Sasanian empire ruled over territory almost as large as the Achaemenid Empire (founded in the 6th century BC), from which it claimed descent. But the Empire was destroyed, wiped out of history, following the successful invasion of the Arab hordes from the East.
